So many words #008 - Cash (stimulus edition)

Theme for today's entry is cash.

倒貼 dàotiē - pay money to give smth. to someone. 這東西倒貼給我,我也不要! "I wouldn't take this stuff even if you paid me!". Useful for when your friendly local broker tries to pawn off some Mortgage-Backed Securities on you.

貼錢 tiēqián - pay out of your own pocket. Used with rebate/stimulus checks, since most of those being issued in various countries require you to pay a certain amount of the price of the item yourself (to prevent fraud).

發跡 fājì - to get money and fame. Something that won't be happening to finance majors anytime soon.

消費卷 xiāofèijuàn - stimulus check, m. word 張. Collocated with the verb 兌現  duìxiàn, which means to cash.

冤枉錢 yuānwangqián - wasted money. What the stimulus checks will ultimately end up being.
